Forests, Woods & Paths – March 2026

Some of the most enchanting images shown at our Show and Tell meetings in the past have been of forests and woods, so we were eagerly anticipating our members’ images this month. And we weren’t disappointed.

Since last year’s Photo Show we have been fortunate to welcome several new members. This resulted in this month being one of our best attended meetings, and giving us the, not unwelcome, problem of choosing our favourite from an increased number of submitted photos.

The theme gave members a wide brief, so as well as images of trees and forests, there were woodland waterfalls, fallen leaves, bark, undergrowth and paths, of course.

Come voting, the members, spoilt for choice as usual, spread their favours widely. When the votes were counted two images were tied with the most: Flooded Forest by Alastair Bell, an almost other-worldly image of trees reflected in floodwater and The Fallen Giant by Adrian Chandler, the trunk of a fallen tree glowing in a shaft of soft light.

The image of the month section, photos taken by members since the last Show and Tell meeting. There’s always something of interest in this section as members often submit photos from their travels to places near or far, or they flex their imaginative and artistic muscles by trying something different. Andrew Jackson’s Ripples certainly falls into the latter category – a well-observed, abstract shot of reflected poplar trees.
