After our summer break we were certainly back with a psychedelic bang with our Colours theme. Some of the images were eye-watering in their intensity.
With such an open theme we had a huge variety of subjects, although flowers were strongly represented, unsurprisingly. What was notable was the way members had spotted the colours that are always present around us. These ranged from an abstract Monet-like image of reflected trees, a splash of colourful graffiti in New York and a roundabout blurred by speed. The favourite was the wonderfully humorous and intricately arranged Rub a Dub Dub by Jane Weston.
This month, instead of an Image of the Month, we looked at the images taken by the members for the August Challenge of Pareidolia. This is "the perception of apparently recognizable images, especially faces, in random or accidental arrangements of shapes and lines". Perhaps better summed-up as 'Faces in Places'. Once again our members' imaginations were piqued and we had some wonderful examples, that can be seen below. The favourite was Andrew Jackson's Roland Rat (younger readers should ask a parent) formed from a flower head. When you see it, you can't unsee it.
