December already! Where has the year gone? Soon it will be time for New Year sales and the first Easter eggs will be appearing in the shops.

This time of year it’s traditional to look back over the last year and, lacking the will to resist tradition, we did the same with our Images of the Year. It provided an opportunity for our members to pick out three photos they took in the past year that they particularly like. This month they could bring along up to three prints instead of digital images.

With no set theme the subjects of the photos were wide-ranging and reflected our members’ interests and travels – a bit like a super-sized version of our usual Image of the Month section.. And it was a travel photo that was voted the favourite projected image – Chrissie Shun’s stunning Grand Teton Emerges. She really did this spectacular location justice.

Every other month we have an extra section for printed images and this month we had a good selection of great photos. The majority were landscapes and black and white images featured largely too. The most popular with our members was, for this time of year, a suitably sober and ecclesiastical study of the interior of a cathedral – Alastair Bell’s Contemplation.

Without an Image of the Month section, we filled its place with images taken by members on our photo shoots at Rugby Model Engineering Society and Stoke Park Pavilions.
