Monochrome - April 2024

We recently welcomed Chris Upton to give us a talk about monochrome photography and hoped our members would be suitably inspired for this month's Show and Tell theme of Monochrome. We weren't disappointed as a look on this gallery page will show.

Some of our members had not tried monochrome before and said how much they had enjoyed the process of visualising a scene in black and white and seeing how it was transformed when not shot in colour. There wasn't a set subject so we had a varied selection showing how well monochrome worked.

When we votied for our favourite image it was tough to choose. As a result eleven images received at least one vote, but it was Adrian Chandler's Reflection, a minimalist image of a fence entering some water, that had a couple more to make it this month's favourite.

Our Image of the Month round contains photos taken since the last meeting and, like the theme image, had a range of subjects. Spring was featured in a few photos and the simply named Spring by Alastair Bell was well-received as was a panorama of Brum From the 37th Floor by Tony Teague. The favourite IoM image was Alcove by David Kallmeier, taken inside Canon's Ashby house.
